Relax on the Beautiful Beaches of Mexico
Mexico has more than nine thousand kilometers of coastline and approximately five thousand beaches to choose from. This can be a very daunting task, as most of the beaches in Mexico can be described as magical white sandy beaches, with roaring surf, breathtaking sunsets and mystical dense jungles that surround them. Some beaches are decorated with spectacular cliffs, volcanic rocks and fascinating coastal wildlife, while the waters of Mexico offer divers and snorkellers an extravaganza of coral reefs and exquisite tropical fish species.
The beaches of the small village of Puerto Escondido, near Oaxaca City, are a favorite attraction for tourists, especially over New Years. During this time the usually quiet and peaceful village, with its undisturbed beaches, comes alive with visitors, tourists, vendors and merchants. It is also a popular destination for surfers, as are Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco. The town of Zihuatanejo is another coastal destination that draws visitors, as Manzanillo Beach, located near the town, is a snorkeling paradise.
One of the most magnificent beaches in Mexico can be found on the island of Cozumel. It is an inhabited island that lies just off the Yucatan Peninsula and is mostly covered in jungle. Its beaches are magnificent and the island home to some of the best scuba diving locations in the world. Here scuba diving enthusiasts will find the World’s second largest reef, with more than twenty six different coral classes, and most divers comment that entering these waters is like swimming in a giant fish tank, as there are endless amounts of marine life and fish in these waters.
Of course there are also the usual crowded beaches such as Cancun, a popular destination for a romantic get-away and honeymooners. Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Cabo San Lucas will always be favorite spots for the rich to escape to, but fortunately, Mexico is able to offer everyone a perfect holiday on the beach.
From beaches filled with jet setters, a family enjoying a vacation, isolated coves and untouched sands, Mexico has it all. It is a destination that can be enjoyed by everyone, and the beaches provide visitors with the spots to relax and enjoy the tranquility and calming effects that only nature can provide.
