England offers the tourist a bewildering array of choices when it comes to sightseeing and attractions. Handfuls of quaint towns, dozens of picturesque castles, an abundance of museums and historical places and enough shops to make you drop.
Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square's focal point is Nelson's Column, featuring the one-eyed admiral who died whilst defeating the French at the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. Four lions guard the column's base, while two adjacent fountains are a magnet for overheating sightseers during the summer. The National Gallery, across the north side of the square, is one of the world's greatest art collections, showcasing works by artists such as, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
The Mall and Buckingham Palace
The tree-lined sweep of The Mall runs from Trafalgar Square through the imposing admiralty Arch, and on to Buckingham Palace. The Palace's exterior was last remodeled in 1913, and it is as bland as it can be, but the interior is suitably lavishing, with plenty van Dycks and Rembrandts and the walls. Most tourists however gather outside waiting for the changing of the guards. A ceremony takes place with each changing.
Cadbury World
This is an attraction that should be avoided by those feeling guilty when eating too much chocolate. Cadbury World is the place where the world's most famous chocolate is produced. Tours of the factory are available, where one can see how the chocolate is made, and you may eat as much chocolate as you like, while in the factory.
Albert Dock
The Albert Dock in Liverpool was opened in 1846, and grew into a very popular tourist destination. The Albert Dock has much to offer. From world-class shops and restaurants, to the story of the legend band - The Beatles, as well as a water based tour to historical docks. The Albert Dock has the very best entertainment and culture to offer in the North West part Of England.
