Visit the legacy of Windsor and Eton
While the town of Windsor and the attached village of Eton may not be very big, they are home to some of England's most popular tourist attractions. The most notable of these are Windsor Castle and Eton College, but these are by no means the only attractions in this quiet little English town.
Windsor Castle is listed as one of the United Kingdom's top 20 attractions and it is certainly not to be missed. Within the ancient stone walls of this magnificent castle lies impressive large rooms decked out in the most sumptuous finery imaginable and some of the rarest artwork in Europe. When the Queen is not home, much of the castle is open to the public which allows for a most enjoyable tour. The famous Changing of the Guard takes place in front of the Guard Room at 11pm almost every day of the week.
Eton College is still seen as England's best public school. It was founded in 1440 by King Henry the forth and its sturdy stone walls and proud statue of Henry the fourth are worth a visit. If you prefer something a little more modern, LEGOLAND Windsor is incredibly popular with both children and adults. Visitors may also enjoy a trip to the Savill Garden, the Windsor Great Park as well as a further seventeen attractions which are located in Windsor.
If you plan to spend more than a day in town, you may enjoy an evening spent at the Windsor Theatre or some ice skating in Windsor. Windsor has a large number of fine hotels, hostels and other types of accommodation to make your stay more enjoyable. For meals, one of the many Windsor restaurants is a good choice. If you are heading for England soon, or even if you live in England, make sure that you get to see both the fun side and the regal side of the lovely town of Windsor.
