Why is it that, of all the birds on this planet, it is the chicken which is the most unfortunate and unlucky to get killed for food by humans all over the world in such huge quantities?
While, turkey and other birds are eaten very seldom.

Turkeys are a popular food over here in the UK, but the reason why chickens are eaten in such amounts is that they dont take that long to grow before they are ready for the table. Plus if you get free range and organic they can actually taste good. Turkeys on the other hand take a hell of a lot longer before the are ready.

Whichever way you look at it lifes a bummer if your a chicken or turkey.

This is how chickens should be kept, and not in those terrible factory farms, its no wonder they taste like cardboard.
Are you still veggie Meredith, or am i getting you mixed up with someone else.

Talking

Couldn't read this thread without calling to mind the hilarious way the closing scene of the film "Chicken Run" poses the old question ("Which came first .... ?") in a new and diffenent way ....

If you go to a chicken farm and see how layers (for eggs) and broilers (for meat) are kept in congested un-hygenic conditions, often in multi layer platforms, and fed a large amount of steroids to make them grow large and fast, and large amount of
anti-biotics to prevent them falling sick, you will think twice before you take the knife and fork to eat the chicken dish on the table.
On the other hand, chinese roast duck is a healthy and tasty dish to eat.Recently National Geographic broadcast an one hour article on chinese roast duct, from breeding to roasting and serving, quite interesting.

Well anyone who buys these cheap-o chickens deserves all they get. Although organic free range are a hell of a lot more expensive its worth it.

Have not seen the film paul...... but can imagine.
