Unhappy

On Sunday, June 9th, my son's college roommate at Columbia University in New York, NY was killed in a plane crash near Namur. It was reported that this incident occurred during was a sky diving accident in which the plane crashed after take-off, with nine passengers, killing the American aboard.

I am trying to find out more details however I can not seem to locate any media coverage of the event and so I found this site and am writing for assistance.

Can someone assist me in finding out more, this is what was published in the Boston Globe, our local paper in the obituaries:

Overhere newspapers only reported one dead (a belgian
woman) and ten injured, some of them very seriously.

Maybe he died from his injuries....

The little airplane crashed after take-off. It carried ten passenger (parachutists) aboard.

That's all I know.

Thank you very much. The article I currently have is the below and I thought a local newspaper would have more detail (hopefully in English) since this story is not accurate with Alison Ahern's description.

Belgian Plane Crash Kills One, Injuring Nine

Xinhuanet 2002-06-10 04:09:56

¡¡¡¡BRUSSELS, June 9 (Xinhuanet) -- One American student was killed and nine other passengers wounded after a light Belgian plane crashed on Sunday in the southern part of the country soon after its take-off, local media reported.

¡¡¡¡Reports said that the female student, who was studying in Belgium, died in hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.

¡¡¡¡Witnesses were quoted as saying that the death toll could have been higher as the aircraft, taking passengers on a parachute jump, crashed a few meters from a packed cafeteria at the aerodrome in Temploux, not far from the city of Namur.

¡¡¡¡The lives of the wounded were reportedly not in danger and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Enditem
