Thumbs up

I would like to spread a general "hello" to all members, and a special "hello" to all Swedes. Even here in the Middle East we hear about your country in terms of development, human rights, and environment caring. Sweden is a country for any human to be proud of. As an unbiased human being, I can say, no country has offered its inhabitants as what Sweden has provided its citizens.

Sweden didn't even forget human beings living outside its borders! At least Swedes have provided us with the safest cars in the world "SAAB and VOLVO"!!!

Isn't Sweden the best country in the world?

Great Britain is the greatest country in the world, that's why it has "Great" in its name.

Är du sarkastisk eller vill du värkligen veta?

The term"Great Britain" causes many arguments as to its meaning( even among the brits )To me Great Britain is England, Scotland, and Wales.

This site explains quite a lot.

Reading that "Great Britain is a country" was surely a typo mistake from the participant. However, if the participant was talking about England, then he/she has committed another mistake. Why should England be the best in the world while Sweden is still occupying a piece of land on the world's map?

We shouldn't be biased to our countries or to any country we like before we investigate and compare facts. Let us take some quick examples just to reach consensus about the fact that Sweden is the best:

1. Aided by peace and neutrality for the whole 20th century, Sweden has achieved an enviable standard of living under a mixed system of high-tech capitalism and extensive welfare benefits.

Q: Where is England from peace, and does it maintain high pension like that in Sweden?

2. Annual purchasing power parity in Sweden - $26,000
Annual purchasing power parity in England - $25,500
...(2002 est.)

3. Unemployment in Sweden - 4%
Unemployment in England- 5.2%
...(2002 est.)

4. Population below poverty line in Sweden - 0%
Population below poverty line in England - 17%
...(2002 est.)

A country like England, having a great occupying presence in Africa and Arab Gulf area, should at least maintain higher or just more presentable figures.

Those were some quick measures just to shift England out of the top 5.

This is a new member from China.I was so lucky to have an opportunity to visit Stockholm and Malmo last October.Frankly it was the first time for me to go abroad.I do not have the qualification to make conclusion that Sweden is the best country in the world. But,I love it indeed. It gave me so many beautiful memories. It was so familiar to me without imagined strangeness. Now the only pity is my city is so far away from the lovely cities in my heart.

Smile Swedenz

I agree that sweden is a nice place to live. The people I met are warm and friendly. I had the opportunity to stay in goteborg for 6 months. sometimes i feel so lonely because the place where i am staying (hjuvik) is kinda boring.....but theres this one guy, i would never forget. we just met once in andalen.his name is magnus...i dont even know his last name.......so whoever knows any 25 year old magnus who has a step grandparents in andalen, and stayed there for 2 months to work as part time in volvo sometime in May 2002.and after that who worked in a cruise ship. who is about 6 ft tall, dark hair.......etc......i may sound crazy, but i never had the chance to befriend him....well, call me crazy........
well, i have a bf here in my place.....but up to now, i still think about this guy....we have common acquaintances but id rather die than ask them what his last name is and how to contact him......i cant explain why he is always in my mind, and am sure he already fogets my name.......and top it all, we never had a conversation.......
well, i must say..... sweden gives u magic and mystery all ur life )
