Have any regular sweden.com posters had the opportunity to meet the Muir family yet??

They were the people who chose ( sensible types!! ) Hedemora, Sweden in the 'Get a New Life' BBC TV programme rather than somewhere in the sweltering tropics of Costa Fortuna.

It would be a grand gesture to direct them towards this friendly site, especially since I gather from the article in Expressen that the language is going to be a slight problem for them in the early days .....

Good Idea! They are more than welcome!

I read about them again a few days ago in the news, they have problems getting work and if they don't get that soon they might be forced to return. Expressen urged people to write to them and offer jobs, and had an address and an e-mail people could write to. I hope it works out.

The adventures of the Muirs will be shown on "Get a new Life", BBC Scotland, in April.

Thumbs up

C'mon, Guys & Gals!

These brave folk need a bit of a helping hand: surely someone must be able to tell them about sweden.com or point them in the direction they need to get themselves established?????????

Hi!
I'm new to this site and I'm interessed in theology but it looks like some take the time to write factual information and get criticism for their troubles. I've been 'lurking' around for about two weeks now but your site was having some trouble, first I thought it was my macintosh so I tried a new e-mail adress on my pc also. Good old windows... But now I see it may have been your site that had problems. So should I take the time something of substance or will I just get back 'one liners' from people who like to just criticize.

Glad to see you de-lurked... Don't be discouraged. There is tremendous diversity in views here, and you may likely find like-minded individuals. By the same token, you will find people who you will never sway to see things your way. As long as folks are tolerant and not hatemongers, generally we all get along.

The Muirs went home to Scotland

http://www.tv4.se/visa/?ID=303174

They didn't manage to find any jobb, and did'nt want to live out of the Swedish welfare.

They have written about why they went home in todays issue of "Expressen" (major Swedish newspaper), but I can't find it on the homepage.

Unhappy

Didac, that's sad to hear - I saw a 'followup' programme during the week of a family who'd made a successful move to Spain, I really hoped it would work for the Muirs in Sweden...
On the other hand, I've just sent off my application to the BBC to see if I can't get them to fund (at least in part!!) our moving expenses ....

Bump!

Now I know what happened to the Muirs, saw them on TV a couple of weeks ago. They are doing great in Sweden and havent been back even once to Scotland.

Both the parents have work and speak quite good Swedish, the children are fluid though, and one of them even speak with the typical dialect of Hedemora area.

A happy ending.

What's best with Sweden, the reporter asked. To my suprise they answered "The weather". That's not what I'd answer

cheers
David
