I have just recently found out that NZ became independent from the UK in Sept 26, 1907. I was wondering why we don't celebrate this with a Public Holiday? And why wasn't I told about this history when I was at school? I loved History at school and I would have remembered it if I was told about this.
I think we should all ask these questions of our Govt. I think we ought to celebrate this day as a very important day in our History. |

maybe because independence from the united kingdom is nothing to celebrate. you would be better off with us. look how you suffered when we joined the eu in the early 70's.
