ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- A Turkish court on Friday postponed the trial of a popular Kurdish novelist charged with violating Turkey's ban on the Kurdish language after lifting an arrest warrant issued to obtain the man's testimony.

Turkeys treatment of the Kurds in the past is unacceptable-however new regulations and laws passed givethe Kurds the rights they deserve. Keep in mind that due to the instability, 10 years of guerilla warfare and economic problems all Turks have it bad.

But the new steps taken are definitely positive and proof of Turkeys willingness to change.
I think Turkey now needs to communicate to the Turkish Kurds that they are not the enemy-and the new government will be able to do a good job in doing so (considering a majority of the Kurds are extremely religious.)

With the new laws passed-the Turkish government will finance a full 24 hour broadcast Kurdish TV channel and all Kurds have been given the right to be educated in their own language etc.

Definitely the right step if you ask me
Now I beg to ask the question: will Europe stop financing terrorism? the Kurdish card has been used against Turkey for decades but there is no reason to do so anymore-things are changing. Will Europe be able to keep up with this?

Furthermore why is it that Europe doesn't care about the inhumane treatment of ethnic turks in Iran, the Turcomans in Iraq, the massacre of the Uyghur Turks at the hands of the chinese government, the ethnic cleansing of the Caucasus Turks at the hands of the Russian gov't and the relocation of the Crimean Turks etc?

Or do I smell double standards?
It is time for the EU to prove to the Turks that it is not being hypocritical-or they wiill lose the confidence of the Turks forever.
Europe has to convey the message that they are against all forms of injustices whether it be committed by the Turkes or against the Turks.
Will the EU step upto the plate? Or will the Eu simply continue it's policy of denial?

the choice is yours

Europe doesnt care about what is done to Uygur Turks!True. But they are even letting bulgaria into EU, which didnt also allow Turkish names, and treated Turks much worse than Turkey treated kurds. There is double standards in europe. They are never going to let us in, even if we built the best economy in the world and became good like angels. The reason we are not being let in is simple, 99% msulim, most lands are in asia, and historically we opposed and invaded europe. They hate 3 million Turks who are in europe, they dont want 65 million more.Europeans are racist, its time we understood that, and prepared for Turan.
