Why is it that belgians feel they have the right to judge others?
Lets not forget who exported jews in WWII to their deaths. I'm not saying human rights shouldn't be protected, but what exactly gives belium the right? You dont face the hardships of starvation in africa, you dont face the opression of regimes in the far east, and you dont face the terror of the arab worl in the middle east. One can only think that this holier than thou attitude comes from a desire to take advantage (By muslims, blacks and other minroities living in belgium)of a society that I assume at its core wants to do somer good, But quite frankly you guys don't have a clue! Sorry It may be tough to hear, but it doesn't make it any less true. |

Who exported the jews in WWII to their deaths?
Euhm.... I would say the Germans did. In Belgium we are used to have the freedom of expression. Yes we criticize others, but also ourselves. In fact, I can't think of many other state where people are so sceptic about their own country. Have you ever heard a Belgian politician say: "God bless Belgium?". We don't go around being chauvinistic about our country, but on the otherhand we don't fall into admiration towards other countries either. I so no reason why we should not criticize other countries, provided off course that the criticism is based on an analysis of reality and not merely on prejudices. Moreover, I find your reasoning very dangerous. I mean: who is going to blame a country for violating human rights, if other countries should not be allowed to criticize this country on the base of a "clean your own backyard"-argument? |

What is "Violation of Human rights?"
If a person keeps sending bombers into your backyad every day, and you decide to say Stop! as long as you keep this up I wont let you in my backyard, and if your parents wont crontrol you then I will. Is that a vioaltion of human rights? If a terror organization murders 5000 people and is protected by a govt. is the overthrow a violation of human rights? Or is the taking of life a violatioj of human rights? You ever been to a muslim country? I doubt it. I have i have seen how they treat women! I have seen their laws. You want to talk about human rights? maybe its time belgium and europe tackled the oil rich countries??? Instead no, you realize that lets appease them and then they will leave us alone? What about Africa?? Belgium was one of the worst violator of human rights! the destruction and poverty left behind by belgium was the worst even than the french. YET belgium decides it has the right to try African leaders for human rights? What about the UN? Syria, an known supporter of terrorist groups(Terror being the murder of civilians for political gain"For those of you who don't know), Syria who denies the equal rights to its own citizens, syria who along with Iraq has used GAS on its own popluation Syria sits on the security councel?? And guess what belgium voted when it was her turn to decide if Syria should sit on the council? Don't talk or lecture me about human rights, wake up, smell the coffee, and stop judging others!!!YOU HAVE NO RIGHT! |

Euhmmm...I don't really understand to which message you are replying.
I don't remember anybody saying anything about Syria on this forum. You are shouting to me "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT". I have no right? No right to do what? Express my opinion? I do not have the right to talk to you about human rights? Well, what the hell are you doing in the "Human Rights" part of the forum then????? |

Here is a short answer to part of your message on Africa. I was there and I saw a lot of love between Congolese people and Belgians. I was there when black people, whose brain had been washed by politicians and revolutionnaries came and cut the head of their own people because they had made friends with the "white" people. It was really sad. Yes, there has been unfairness on both sides, but to the end of my life I will remember some sweet Congolese people who loved me right back. We treated each other correctly and loved each other no matter what colour we were.
On the other side, I want to point out that I live in the USA now, and 2 months ago, my boss received an e-mail from somebody she did not know, offering her a very large sum of money in dollars (in the millions), just to wash or launder money (as they say in the mafia jargon). She showed it to me, and low and behold, who do you think had so much money to offer? The son of Mobutu who said he was in exile in Algeria with his family. He was telling her about castles that he has in France and all over the world, and many more things to show he was very wealthy. Where do you think he obtain this wealth? Yes, he is the one who left that country in poverty, not the Belgians |

You are so damn right, Panchita! Excuse my language. I also agree with you, Fleming. Everyone has the right to express their own opinion. And Mikifin101, the way you express yourself on this discussion board, you sound like you want to create a fight or something like that, eventhough we don't know who you really are. I know you could express your feelings and opinions, but please have some respect for other people that are sharing this discussion board. Before you let out you feelings and judge Belgium, please reread the history of Belgium and see who and which country is the one that started the war that also made Belgium get involved in it ( Like Belgium wanted to) I don't think you know a thing about that. I have lived in Belgium since I was a little girl and studied the history mostly all my life, until I moved to the United States where I started high school. I know that the United States have their ups and downs, but in certain things that you said, I do have to agree with you. I don't know if you agree with me Panchita, but in some ways I do agree and disagree with what President Bush is doing right now. I thank him for putting all his effort for trying to find every way to protect our country, but also at the same time, I hope he put the same effort to solve the United States populations problems, which I don't see much improvement.

I forgot one more thing for Mikifin101. FYI: My godmother's sister is a doctor in Africa and she takes care of the sick children and also old people there. One more thing to tell you. I have an African Godsister whom my godmother raised since she was a little girl. So, you can not just judge every belgian that they are bad. I love my godsister to death and my godmother is the greatest woman. So, think twice before you write something down.

I get such emails offering large sums of money all the time. And the sender always introduces himself as a rich african mogul...I'm really keen to find out where these emails come from..I know it's just scam, but still..
another interesting story.. don't know if it is true- a friend of mine once told me that someone she knew had actually replied to an email like that, and was invited to some african state to collect the money or something..I'm not really sure .. but when he got there, he was kidnapped, and a few days later, the family of the poor guy got an email saying that he was a captive and would only be released if the they received some huge amount of money as a ransom!!! Moral of the story: If you get an email from an African Donald Trump saying that he wants to share his money with you, delete the email at once and format your Hard drive!! |

Hi Gooey,
The same thing happen to me. I've been receiving the same weird e-mails, regarding some rich man from Nigeria died and is offering a large sum of money and is looking for a foreigner to share his wealth with eventhough we only get about 20% of the money. I was like thinking to myself, who is this fool that keeps on sending me these stupid e-mails. One time it's a doctor and another time it's some rich oil refinery dude. I just wanted to reply back and say something bad, but then you never know who those people really are (I'm kind of scared too). And about your friend that answered to that e-mail. Did his parents get him back yet. Does the government knows about these crazy e-mails? Well, it's good that you didn't answer back to them. Talk to you later. |

Mikifin101: I think you are very wrong in what you are saying.
Human rights is something everyone in every country should have the right to. And yes, we might have made our mistakes in Africa, but we have learnt our lessons. Every country has violated human rights. what gives the US the right? what gives any country the right? Do you not know anything about world politics? You come here and judge us, saying we shouldn't judge others, yet you are doing it yourself. A little ironic isn't it. I have lived in MANY Muslim countries, and I'm sorry to say that human rights conditions have improved tremendously in some of thes countries. Not because they decided to do something about it, but because the developed world as a whole judged them to be wrong, and did something about it. the UN first of all is not a democratic organization, and because of that, they're unable to do that much about human rights. In Europe, to be part of the EU, one must comply with Human Rights (that's a must). The UN has China on it's security council. That's one of the biggest violators of Human Rights. There are many severe violators of Human rights on the UN security council. D |
