Hello to all!
I am currently an American citizen of Swedish descent who is tired of having his taxes used to fund so much discord in the world. I'm just starting to gather information about obtaining Swedish citizenship and any help in answering/addressing the following would be *VERY* appreciated! (1) Does anyone here have any first-hand experience of an American obtaining Swedish citizenship? (2) My grandparents were Swedish citizens. Does this have any bearing on obtaining Swedish citizenship? (3) Does anyone know if the Swedish equivalent of 'immigration attorneys' exist? If so, does anyone know a good one or know how I would go about finding one? (4) I have a successful business that I would want to relocate to Sweden. Does this have any bearing on my ability to get citizenship? (5) Is anyone in a similar position? If so it might be helpful to pool resources. Any information would be greatly appreciated! -wannabe-expat |

I think your chances are best of with (4) a good reason to re-locate your business.
Hopefully, you can find some useful info at some of these web-pages: General: http://www.migrationsverket.se/pdffi...r/mskap_en.pdf http://www.isa.se/templates/Startpage____2008.aspx http://www.swedishtrade.com/ http://www.americaninsweden.com/ais/...alsweden.shtml Maybe something about moving your business: http://www.travel.state.gov/sweden.html http://www.biznetsweden.com/ http://www.amchamswe.se/doingbusiness.htm http://www.auldenfire.com/alss/alss.shtml http://www.handelskammaren.net/item.aspx?id=27

I would have thought you could get help at the Embassy regarding this matter?

True but...
The problem with dealing with the Embassy is that you simply get the "official" answers. Albeit, those are helpful and they have plenty of information on the website, but they comparitively pale to the usefulness of anecedotal information and people who have actually done it themselves. Basically the embassy will tell you how things are *supposed to work* while folks like immigration attorneys and expats know how things *actually work*.
