I am an American certified English teacher. I have several years experience teaching professionals, and speak fluent French and Spanish (I have been studying Dutch for some years).
DOES anyone know the likelihood of finding work (without papers) teaching English at a private academy in Brussels?
Any and all responses appreciated.
Marcus

Without papers you might as well forget it...you can only stay here up to 3 months in a 6 months period of time as a tourist..If you wanna work here you'll need a work permit anyhow (legally of course.. ). 'If you can't afford one, A work permit can be appointed to you' by your future employer who'll state as such. You'll need to go to the Belgian consulate in the US with this written statement (BEFORE you enter this country..) and apply for a work permit. The other way would be that you can show the gvt proof of a monthly salary of I think it was 85000 BEF, in case you don't need the employer but are regarded self-sufficient..well you get the point I hope..I dunno what it is with Belgium these days but they seem not to enjoy outside arrivals (talking bout the gvt rules, not the ppl)
I'd suggest...if you wanna travel and are indeed a certified English teacher, ..go to Hong Kong and they'll accept you with open arms and a 100 000 BEF salary average net..Don't shoot my for any mistakes I'm only human..lol
Take care

PS Thx Marista for showing me this site I know you're out there

i was looking to teach english privately and while sereaching for options i stumbled upon this page. i am and MSc graduate which is unfortunately not in english but english is my first language. i was hoping that i could get some help. my papers are in process at the brussels commune and it may take some time before that gets done. i thought this may also be a good way of intergrating since i am new in brussels and would like to meet some nice people. i also wanted to know how to post new messages on the main dicussion forum if there is one would appreciate all help! thank you!
