help!!!!
although I've been spending several month in new zealand (dunedin) I haven't found out much about the living together of maori and kiwi.... but I gotta write a big thing for my school about it (I'm from germany..) and I hope you guys can help me. the stuff I know would fill 5 pages, but I need 10... and I'm really interested in this subject personally. but (i don't know why) i don't find much about this, neither in the library, nor in the internet... does somebody know some sites or good books about this theme??? or is somebody personally involved and wants to tell me about it? would be great if somebody answerded me.... here or just mail me nz2001@web.de micha hope my english wasn't too bad and everybody unerstood me :-) |

Heyyy...
I think you may have the interpretation of the word "kiwi" wrong. There are two people of New Zealand, they are the Maori people and the European people(Pakeha) both of whom are Kiwis. Kiwi refers to the Nationality of both Maori and Pakeha people, not to a certain group of people. In reference to how they get along, there have been some problems over the years but overall, the situation is healthy between the two people who are one nation. Certain disputes by Maori people over land rights and soverignty have tended to build up a bit of a problem but mose New Zealanders are tolerant of such acts. Hope this is of some help. |
