Hello

Being from a tribe, from a land made of sand dunes is like being part of the Earth itself, with no landmark or buildings to brake the Earth, no cars or poluution to content with, only the sound of the wind echoing in your mind, feeling your dreams of hidden spaces more unearthly than it could be possible to imagine.Linked to all other tribes who have fought to preserve their ancestry and knowledge from the idiocy of races who thought they knew to well but were mistaken on their knowledge..

Meeting a Maori, two three would be an experience, where understanding and history combined allow for a deep rooted understanding of knowing what is true and healthy and what is false...of knowing to stand apart and be part of the whole..

Meeting on a sacred ground and understanding sacredness is not something to fool with but to honor. I am proud to be part of a tribe, a sacred knowledge and meeting other who are of the same essence.. even if my journey leads me to unchartered territories, then I shall embrace the journey as a mean of exploration and sharing.. that is why I am to come to NEW ZEALAND..

Question Impressed

Hello. I have just finished reading your testimony of faith and pride in your ancestry. I have been made aware that for one to share thier heritage story with another is a very special and sacred thing, so I will not expect much. This is my story:
For a school project, we all got to pick a country to do a big project on. I picked NZ, simply because I know a few people from there. After doing some research, however, I have fallen deeply in love with the richness of the culture. The Maori history especially has piqued my curiosity. I'm very intrested to know more of your lifestyle, your religion, especially your history as a Maori. I understand that this is something usually reserved for people you know very well alone, however, I'm hoping you will share with me some of the sacred secrets of your past.
Any information on either NZ or Maori would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Laura-- USA -- 4.15.02

Cool What tribe are you from?

Just wondering, what tribe are you from?

I am from Te Whanau-A-Apanu and Mataatua.
Mataatua is a tribal canoe. It is a part of our tribe but its the name of my canoe, inconjunction with my tribe.
My Marae is in Whitianga, East Coast of the Bay of Plenty.

Are you returning back to NZ, to find out more about your tribe?, just wondering.
