Hello Mate!

I lived in Melbourne for 12 years....

Melbourne, Florida USA...that is....on the east coast of Florida about 50 miles south of the Kennedy Space Center.

The population is about 100,000 and was named "Melbourne" by an Aussie back in the late 19th century. How he ended up in that part of Florida at that time remains a mystery, but I guess the folks liked the name and adopted it!

Orlando? Far out!

You could just about hit my house with a rock, Ronbo. I live in Leesburg, FL. About 35 miles west of Orlando.

Wasn't Jim Morrison of the 'Doors' born in Melbourne, FL.?

G'day, That's fasinating and something I didn't know at all. Yes indeed how did an Aussie end up there so long ago and he must have had some influence to have had a place in Florida named after him!!!

Dollar says that Australian accent had something to do with it. Americans love the way Aussies talk!
