Hello Babzzii and thank you for the welcome.

Currently I'm in Oz and besides the Internet and computers my likes are travel, travel and travel. I've travelled a lot but sadly I have not yet been to England, Scotland and Ireland.

My last big trip was to the Mediterranean (Malta), Egypt and parts of Europe (e.g. Italy, France, Belgium, Vienna) and Eastern Europe (e.g. Prague and Budapest) but missed going to places like Spain, Germany and Switzerland in Europe and in Africa Algeria, Morocco and South Africa (but have been to Mauritius). I mean there's money and time constraints but will have to do these one day. I also wish to go to India, Bangladesh , Nepal, Greece, Turkey and Israel.

I've been to Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand but not yet to China, Hong Kong or Taiwan, again a future trip but P lan to next go to Spain, Scotland, Ireland and England and from there to Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland), Ukraine and Russia. Yes a big one!!! After this trip I will travel to South America (Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua). On this trip I plan to first go to Hawaii and then to Mexico. At the moment I'm building up my business so that I can afford the next trip and join these boards so that I can learn about the places and the people before I get there.

Nice to chat to you Babzzii and thank you for the welcome.

Have you been to Oz?

Nice place Cooma. Been there once or twice on my way to the snowfields.

Yes as I said I haven't yet been to the UK but it certainly is on my travelling agenda.

Hi mykfin

So this board is fairly new still but no doubt should build up in time. Yes I do hope to get over there within 12 to 18 months.

cheers

Hi Kathyv and thanks for the welcome. Melbourne is a gorgeous place often rated in the top one or two liveable cities in the world. If you like the Snowy River then that's close to where Babzzii' auntie and family live. Yes I have to say that that's a beautiful part of the world, often referred to here as the high country. I love it there in the winter, it's just awesome.

So how does Oregon comapre to places like the Snowy?

Cheers
Adam

Well, where I live I think it's pretty comparable to the Snowy River country, at least what I've seen in pics, we are at the base of the Wallowa Mountians in the Wallowa Valley. We are just under 4,000 feet above sea level and the mts go up to 12,000+ feet. The part of Oregon that most people think of is the smaller, rainy and greener part known as the Willamette Valley. It does get a lot of rain and is quite like England, with the variety of plants, weather and such. We are highter, therefore drier and we get quite a bit of snow. It's beautiful here, spectacular scenery and not many folks! Our largest town, of the 7 communities in the entire county, has 2200 people!

Oregon also has desert, both low with things like sage brush and cactus (sometimes called the Oregon Outback!) and the high desert with scrub brush and juniper trees. There is rain forrest, {not tropical but temerate}, grasslands, wonderful rivers, deep lakes, high mountians, good farmland and deep canyons. We also have a pretty awesome coastal area. I happen to think it's one of the most beautiful and varried States. You can go from Wilderness to urban sprawl in a few hours travel time!

I have heard that about Melbourne, I would love to visit there someday.

Gosh Kathyv that sounds idealic!!! In fact, you've described it just like a little peace of heaven. Well Melbourne really isn't anything like you've described your neck of the woods but is certainly one of the cleanest cities in the world pollution wise etc. The water is better than most bottled spring water. I live in the city but on the coast and face a beautiful beach/marina. I guess it really is hard to describe a place without a pic or two and I'd be happy to exchange pics with anyone interested and would be a great way to describe our own little pieces of this now "virtual village".

P.S. Every time I read your messages I get a craving to crack a block of chocolate......LOL.

Welcome, click

I lived in Oz ten years ago, working holiday, spent 16 brilliant months there.
I was so poverty stricken I had to join the travelling funfair - I remember working at the Moomba festival and later in the year at the Melbourne Show.
I've stayed in the city centre, Preston and St Kilda.
I would love to see Melbourne again - I saw Moomba on TV a while back and all the memories came back.
My favourite picture I have is me on the pitch at the MCG.
Anyway, welcome to England.com

Go, Essendon!(bombers)

Hey Shevchenko that's my team.....LOL. Thanks for the welcome and I have to say that you certainly know Melbourne well (gosh a pic of you at the MCG to boot) and sounds like you did it hard...hopefully you're not still poverty stricken but if you are then you might be intersted to read "Do you want to earn a little extra income?" that I'm gonna post in the Open Board.
