Justice Vs. Viciousness
The extraordinary terrorist attacks on New York September 11th last year shocked me so much! Thousands of innocent civilians lost their lives in a sudden, let alone enormous economic loss and consequent negative commercial influences. Tens of thousands of people have been thrown into endless deep sorrow because they lost their beloved parents, brothers or sisters, daughters or sons. I have never been to America before and I don’t have any relatives or friends in America. I cannot prevent me from mourning for what happened, for what U.S. civilians –including the dead for it and their relatives and friends—have suffered. However, what horrified me most was that many people in some Middle East countries were so delighted at the attacks as to hold all kinds of celebrations to express their happiness. What are they thinking? What’s wrong with them? Why do they all enjoy the casualties of civilians? Maybe they all hate America. And maybe they have enough reasons to hate. But I want to make it clear that American people is totally different from American government! Any normal people should not extend their hatred toward a government to her civilians. It is quite easy to understand. How cannot those who enjoy the attacks know it? As for Afghanistan, let’s recall what her former government Taleeban has done to Afghan. Taleeban was so crazy for extreme Muslims and objected any other beliefs, which resulted in their destruct of the world-class heritage – Kala yang Buddha Statue. Taleeban discriminated women and thus deprived most of their valid rights, like education, franchise. Taleeban also suppressed all that it thought would undermine its extreme Muslims, like entertainment, media, to isolate its people from the outside world. Taleeban terrorized Afghanistan by supporting the world largest terrorist organization Alcayida and setting terrorist training camps. What Taleeban as a government should do but failed to do is decent management of Afhanistan and improvement of Afghan living standards. Alcayida and its bloodsucking leader Ben laden is the number one suspect of the September 11th terrorist attacks. I am also trembling whenever hit by Ben laden’s ambition to establish a universal extreme-Muslim country throughout the whole world. What do you feel about it? Let’s take a look at what is going on in Iraq. Its dictator Sadam also stultifies his masses by stirring up supernationalism and misleading Iraq to jingoism, keeps Iraq people unconscious of his dictatorship by converging public attention to America and arousing public anger and hostility toward America. Sadam is a war hysteria. Never does he care about the living of his people, but military enhancement. I bet mass destructive weapons are Sadam’s most wanted. Only this can interpret why he expelled out weapon inspectors sent by the United Nations. Some people may complain that it’s unreasonable that Iraq is imposed the oil-food programme by the United Nations. But, in my point of view, such a programme is a kind of humanitarianism to Iraq people. The reason is quite obvious. Only with such a purpose-restricted programme, Iraq people can be guaranteed necessary food and medicine, although they may not be so sufficient. Just think about the deep reason for why Iraq is suffered. If Iraq is free from the undergoing embargo, it can almost be assured that Sadam will definitely exploit all (or most) revenue on mass destructive weapon research and development. The reason is obvious too. Sadam is crazy and insane. Now democracy is absolutely intangible for Iraq people. With all national resources of Iraq in his hands, Sadam can do anything he wants. No permission for any objection or challenge to his dictatorship. No any real election at all.( But it’s also possible for Sadam to plot a hypocritical election whenever he is quite confident of the effect of his obscurantist policy and his total control of his people.) When he dies or whenever he wants to retire for some reasons, one of his sons will succeed to throne. Iraq and all its belongings are all the private properties of Sadam and his family. Similar things happen in North Korea. It is known that people of the country suffer from severe starvation. But its government hankers after some nuclear weapon development, too, like Iraq. North Korea may promise to stop such a development plan only with its requirements met. E.g. food and medicine support, peaceful nuclear energy exploitation technology, and some low-interest loans, maybe. I do think it’s kind of rascally behaviour. Why does North Korea want to get what she wants by threatening to continue such a nuclear weapon development? Why does not North Korea focus on economic development instead of on nuclear weapon development? The current leader of the country is another dictator. He inherited the leadership from his dead father, the former leader. (Sorry, I fail to find their English names both.) Maybe he’s now considering the best candidate from his descendants to fill his shoes. Can you imagine democracy exists in such a country with hereditary leadership? Maybe North Korea is only a private property of the current leader and his family. I want to say more about the hostility between Israel and Palestine. There’s been a long wrangle between the 2 countries on territory allocation. It’s too complex for me, I think for anyone else either, to tell who’s right, who’s wrong. What I want to say is, under no circumstances, should Palestinians revenge on Israel civilians, like human body bombing, even Israel occupies the land of Palestine. The occupation of some land still in dispute could be the fault of Israel government, but should never be allocated to innocent Israel civilians. In addition, I do think the present Palestinian leader Arafat is a totally hypocrite. He successfully earns sympathy and tears from the whole world by all means. But the same time, he has never been thinking how to prevent barbarous Palestinian human body bombing targeting at Israel civilians. When Israel troops surrounded his residency for revenge on more frequent such bombings, Arafat sent his wife and kid to Paris for some obvious reasons, while he called for his people to unite together and defend their motherland. What do you think of Arafat’s graceful remarks and disgusting behaviours? Arafat, in my eye, is both a fabulous tragedy actor and a world-class tearjerker producer. I admire his vivid acting skills and his gift in production, which can be seen in the success of his tearjerker. Admittedly, all politics are dark and hypocritical and no one can really understand them. So why don’t we just observe the world from a humanistic perspective? Don’t forget that a human being should be a natural person before being associated with any political or other social meanings. Nothing is perfect. So are each person, each country and its government. America could be the most powerful country on earth. To maintain her first place, America government does what she can do. A champion in whatever field would of course do the same thing. Certainly I do think the US government is too radical and overbearing, esp. her foreign policies, sometimes even crosses the line. You may think US government selfish. But could you please give me any example of any unselfish government? How do you define selfishness? I heard there was a meeting of Arab League a few months ago. Unfortunately, they even failed to reach a conclusion on the definition of terrorism. Why? I think any forms of definition will naturally include some crime conducts to civilians, like September 11th attacks, Palestinian human body bombing targeting at Israel civilians, which are in favour by most Muslims in some Arab countries. They didn’t define terrorism only to avoid irritating their people. Maybe. Do you think the members of Arab League are selfish or not? How can a government neglect and avoid some facts only to curry favour with its people, even they are wrong? I now feel lucky that I don’t live in such a country. Finally, Even something wrong with both the weapon inspection and oil-food programme imposed on Iraq. You cannot arbitrarily push all responsibilities, if there were some, to America. Don’t forget they are both resolutions of United Nations. Who’s wrong? Iraq or United Nations and all its member nations? Moreover, I don’t think America is strong enough to control the United Nations. Think about Russia and China. Russia is a long-term adversary of America. So is China and China always boasts about representing the interests of the 3rd world countries. Either of these 2 countries is a member of the supreme U.N. Security Council and thus enjoys the veto right to anything they don’t like. It is only because of the existence of these two countries that America cannot do anything she wants, even she does want to do so. But both China and Russia didn’t use their powerful veto right on either the weapon inspection or the oil-food programme. Otherwise, they could not be the resolutions of the United Nations. China, Russia should also consider them decent. Maybe you think the two countries just compromised at some points considering their own interests. Don’t you think it’s also kind of selfishness? Don’t tell me who’s absolutely right. I know there’s no answer to it. Sometimes, I even appreciate U.S. government since she’s doing what no other countries would like to do. It’s known that a war would probably be harmful to both sides in terms of either casualties or financial loss. America also takes the risk of losing and all its negative sequences. Furthermore, we cannot expect a country to do right things UNSELFISHLY all the time. It’s impossible (Nobody/Nothing on the world can be absolutely unselfish!) as well as unfair for the country. Some people may deem that U.S. gets what she wants from a war, oil for instance. I never deny this, but maybe not for oil. As we all know, OPEC is an international organization in charge of both output and price of most petroleum exporting countries. I don’t believe a war between U.S. and one or two such country/countries would grant America any chance to control the whole organization. Since we cannot figure out what’s wrong and what’s right in political shows and it’s also impossible to get rid of politics at present, we can only tell who’s near justice and who’s near viciousness. (What’s important is that we should only observe and consider anything, except those relevant to viciousness, from a humanistic and rational perspective.) I’d rather choose the side of next to justice, even sometimes the right side may go much further, but still within the acceptable scope because she’s still dealing with devils. I believe U.S. is doing the right thing for both herself and the whole world. There’s no doubt that U.S. government means to maintain her leading position by doing this. But what I want to emphasize here is that U.S., at the same time, is also doing it for the whole world, even it’s not her initial purpose. Can you just imagine one day the world is falling into the swamp because of one or some warmonger(s) possessing “the ring of the devil”, like nuclear or biochemical weapons? A war can absolutely cause civilian casualties. But sometimes to avoid more devastating catastrophes in the future, we have to force ourselves to choose it due to more significant reasons and try to suppress the casualties mostly at the same time, because WE CANNOT HAVE ANY MERCY ON DEVILS. So let’s pray for the impending war, for America (kind of pioneer in my mind), for her people, who are to get involved in the core of a war for the responsibility her country is taking, for civilians in all other countries, too. |
