According to CNN opinion pool, they said in the whole world the Flemish people are the most racist.
I found it to believe not until three incident happened to me concerning discrimination by the Vlaamse people. I live in Turnhout before, I nearly got killed by the Turnhout Community Police in front of my wife and my three years old daughter last August 2000.
I was so disturbed by that incident which made me to sent letter to His Royal Majesty King Albert, the Prime Minister, The Justice department, Human rights organisation, internal affair minister and some others. His Royal Majesty felt pitty for me, and I received up to three letters from him on the way to tackle the problem. Almost one year now, no JUSTICE.
My wife, a Belgium national adviced me to move out of Turnhout to Lokeren, which I did early this year. I got to Lokeren with the hope of finding peace. But this tend to be the mistake of my life. Discrimination is the second name of the Flemish people living there(I don't mean all the white are the same, please). I have encountered so many problems with these people, but the latest one is today the 28th June, 2001 at about 15:40 cet. I went for shopping with my daughter in the BIG GB of lokeren, I wanted to buy CONDORM but I could not locate where they put it, then I asked the leader of the shop which did not put on GB uniform to show me where I can find the condorm. I was so suprised to the reaction of this woman, she did not answer me, instead she ran inside the store and started telling her co workers about something which I don't hear. It was when all those people(Flemish)face me and started laughing before I realise that they are all making fun of me. The said woman even wanted to call the police when I confronted her when I asked her what was a big deal in asking for condorm to buy, she simply tells me that this is not a sex shop. May be all the condorms they have in stuck is for eating I don't know. This is western world, what is a big deal in asking for condorm to buy in a big shop like GB ?

why flemish people

Dear Adelove2000
It is a pity that this is your experience of the Flemish people. I am well travelled and give you my assurance that racism is very much a problem all over the world. I live in the Middle East and see racism in this society that goes beyond what I saw in South Africa, my home country. For the person who feels invisible because of racism, I encourage not to loose faith in humanity but to be strong and to continue to believe in the human heart. Dont feel sorry for yourself - you have children whom you have to teach.
If you are defeated by your situation you will teach them to believe that they are victims and they will suffer for it.
Be courageous and do good to those who harm you - it will make you strong

CNN??

You might believe CNN when they call Belgian the most racist..BUT can you ask the owner of CNN why he dont give three forths of his billions to the poor blacks in the USA that he loves so much? Just think of all those poor folks could do with that money..is money hoggin from poor blacks a form of raceism?Does he allow them from the streets of Harlem into his home nightly? If he sees one hitching a ride does he stop his limo and pick them up? when someone tosses that word racist around..you might look more closely at their lives..But maybe he dont allow his personal life to get on the nightly news?

Talking aint it great?

those powerful folks can run down a nice country like Belguim and yet hide their own sins,,But we have free speach here to remind them of just who they are.We can drag their skeletons out of the clostet for all to see.i wish we had a news media ofour own to expose those hyocrites.

Big deal?

In small towns and villages people are still very influenced by catholic education. It means you don’t speak of sex with strangers. It is very rude.

So if someone should ask me for “condorms” in a supermarket, I would presume he means a condom, and I would be very surprised. If I was a woman, embarrassed and even offended. As far as I know you can only find them in pharmacies and sex shops. Maybe things have changed because of anti aids-campaigns, I am not a specialist in the matter, I always sleep with the same woman and don’t need them as most Belgian women use the pill.
So a woman will draw other conclusions.

I can very well imagine what was going trough the head of that woman.

Racism? Yes there is, I think we learned it from immigrants. Try to visit a tavern in the parts of Brussels that have a majority of immigrants. If you get out without being beaten up, you are very lucky.

Most immigrants come from Africa, without women. When they are here, they try to find a Belgian girlfriend/wife. Most men have no idea of our habits and traditions and treat the women as they are used too. They have a very bad reputation that has nothing to do with racism, but with their behaviour.

Most speak only French and don’t want to learn Dutch (speaking French in Flanders is looking for trouble). They don’t want to change their habits. They don’t want to integrate. More, they refuse to learn and to respect the habits of the locals.

If they get in trouble because of their attitude, then the others are racists.

Cool Southerners IN DC

Discrimination and racism is not a monoply by whites..I worked in DC..the capitol of the USA.I found some of the nicest black americans there,,But also found black racist..There is a larger proportion of blacks to whites there..I have found black racist at other places..I try to be nice to all races of people..Because I dont like to be mistreated because of race either..The newsmedia ignores the discrimination of whites in the USA. But I just look for good folks of any race. And there is good in all races of people..Many northern whites seem unfriendly to me..But I find enough nice ones too.The rich educated liberals act like we are all trash. They have an unspoken rule on the streets of DC,,NEVER MAKE EYE CONTACT. They cant say hello to their fellow citizen..BUT want to rule over him and be well paid for doing it.
