I left Donny when I married and went to live in Scun_thorpe where we
stayed for over 30 years, out of the two places I think I was more
lucky to move from Scunny !!
I don't think that I could move back to Donny as its changed so
much over the years just like everywhere else !!

Have you ever been to Cusworth Hall, it was my old stomping ground as
a kid, we used to go ghost hunting there...lol

I haven't been there much, but I have a few times in the past. I have to say over the short time I have been here it has changed a lot. Then again the whole country has, for the worst.

Born St Albans, Hertfordshire, which was first smashed up by Boudicca but on my last visit seemed to be decaying of its own free will.
Parents from Dublin.
Nice to see Donny and Scunny people on the board - if it's any consolation - it's grim dahn sarf as well

'grim dahn sauf' hahahaha. I don't speak like I'm from Doncaster or Scun_thorpe, I moved around a lot as a child and I never picked up an accent.

Thing is though you'll find most of the 11 to 25 year olds speak in smack tongue, as I call it. Struggling to string a sentence together and always placing mate at the end. It's hard to type a description, hearing it would be the most amusing thing you could imagine. Especially when they ask you for 20p as soon as you get off a bus into town.

'GOT 20p Mate, foor da bus or da fone, like, eh mate?'

The wise words of someone doped up to their eyeballs on phet, crack or smack. Possibly all three.

Sergeant Ronbo reporting....

Where was I from originally? Ah, yes! Huntington West Virginia, a highlands place settled by the Scot-Irish, and a few English way back when there were Iron Men and Wooden Ships and English judges who gave their defendents the choice between the hangman and transportation to the Virginia colony.

Of course, once in western districts of Virginia (after somehow surviving a voyage of months duration across the North Atlantic in "coffin ships") and facing a howling wilderness full of hostile Indians, greedy French merchants, weird diseases, cold, heat and starvation, they no doubt had second thoughts about getting the short end of the deal on the "hangman thing."

Anyhow, enough survived along the banks of the Ohio and other rivers and hills in western Virginia to produce a generations of folks with nasty rebellious attitudes who first revolted against the Redcoats in 1775 and then against the "Tidewater" Confederate Virginians in 1861 to found the grand highland State of West (by God!) Virginia.

Sadly today (The Scot-Irish ancestry still makes up about 90% of the population) West Virginia is in decline due to the switch from coal to oil by northern industry which doomed the mines (the main industry) to closure, and the countryside is slower but surely returning to nature because the death rate is greater than the birth rate with next to zero immigration.

So now, after many adventures, Ronbo calls Orlando, Florida home.
