Hi !

Hello Gillian,

It's great to see people taking such an interest in our country. I must agree that Belgium's not so bad a country to live in, but then again so is Scotland, right ?

So why Belgium, I wonder ... ?

Greetz,
SoY

Thanks for the reply :-)

I guess it's because my parents had a thing about Belgium and we went there almost every year for holidays when I was young.I've been to most European countries but whenever I arrive in Belgium I always feel safe,relaxed-kind of at home, definately more than I've felt in any other country (except Scotland of course)!!

Yeah,Scotland is a great country, that's why I'm still here I guess.Only one problem though-I can't get hold of any Belgian dance music here :-(.I'm interested in anything Belgian-language,music,culture,politics,absolutely anything so feel free to post absolutely anything.

Firstly you could tell me more about yourself :-) if that's not too personal.

Thanks again for the reply,I look forward to hearing more.

Well, as you may have noticed I'm the moderator around here. Not too much of a job really, as there are mostly friendly people using the forum ...
I'm 25, male and I live in Gent (Belgium). I'm working as a programmer and besides that doing a thousand and one things in my spare time.
I'll be sure to look for some interesting belgian sites for you to explore.

That would be great thanks,I've come across a few sites but the only problem is that most of them have been in Dutch which I'm trying really hard to learn but I'm not too good at it yet!!
I'm working as a support worker with people with learning disabilities who are, after many years of living in hospitals, coming out of hospital to live in the community. We're just trying to make things as comfortable and easy as possible for them.I'm also working on building a support group for people with Korsakoff's Syndrome and hopefully I'll be starting some kind of company to provide them with support at home.Is there any services like this in Belgium?

Hi Gillian,

Welcome to Belgium whenever you come. I'm Irish/Canadian and living in Belgium. In a small city outside of Antwerp called Lier. If you do come I'll be glad to show you around. I've been up to Inverness in your neck of the woods..great trips, however the last time I was there got stuck in a snowstorm on my way by car to Inverness airport.

Well, let me kn,ow when you're coming and we can meet and chat and plan someting in my free time; I fly cargo and travel a great deal through Europe, Middle East and Africa. Right now I'm on leave and start full time again March 1st. 2002..

Drop me a line anytime or e-mail me at: oacemer@canada.com

Best regards,

F16 (George to my friends)

Haha that's Inverness for you-if you'd gone there in July you'd probably still have got stuck in a snowstorm.
It would be great to meet up although I'm not too sure when I'd be coming over.
How do you find living in Belgium? I think it would be a great place to live but then again my brother thought that about Florida and he's been living there for the past 3 years and has hated every minute of it! I've had a bit og a go at learning the language as well but trying it out here and actually ussing it over there are probably two very different things huh?
My email is gilmarro@yahoo.com so feel free to mail me anytime and thanks for the reply :-)
