Coming to NZ

Hi,

29yo(30 in June - yuk) Scottish female here. I will be arriving in NZ around September time and am looking to (hopefully) meet some actual New Zealanders this time.

Would love to hear from anyone, in any part of both islands and get to know some people and maybe meet up with them on my travels. Travelling alone so will respond to all replies.

HI Jen,

Thanks for your reply. I will be looking to buy a car when I arrive in NZ. Here in the UK we have to buy road tax and insurance for all cars. What is the situation with that in NZ?

Do you know if there is much of an oil and gas industry in NZ? I believe there are gas fields there but not sure what my chances of work would be. I work on an oil rig just now and have worked in the oil industry since I started work and woild like to try and find something in my field(doesn't have to be the oi industry though as I'm a chemist)

What is there to see around the Napier area? I am planning on seeing as much of NZ as humanly possible before I have to find some work.

Can't think of anymore questions for now.

Well for starters i know we do hav eoil rigs here. But not sure about how to get incontact with them about jobs. I will ask hubby about it when he gets home from work too see if he knows.

Yes live in Napier which is a city which is well known for its Art Deco. We are also a tourist place where we have a big Aquarium, Dolphins, and other attractions.

We get quite hot here in the summer and mild in winter.

Chemist Jobs come up here ever now and again too, so shouldnt be too hard for you to fins something you like.

ps i forgot about cars.
Yes you normally have to insure cars herewhen you buy. Also they is a warrant of witness and registration but that should all be done when you buy car.... you will only have to insure it.

What do you do in Napier? Are you a full time Mum? How old are your kids?

Was going to visit Napier when I was on holiday in NZ but didn't have enough time really. I have a friend living in NZ just now and she has been she says it's a lovely place to visit. The furthest south we got was Taupo. Saw a lot of beautiful places the last time which was why I decided that NZ was the place for me.

Yes i ama full time mum. Kids are boy 8 and girl 7.
You were in Taupo well napier is only 1 1/2 hrs away you were nearlly here LOL.well maybe next time.

What about you are you married with kids or are you tooooooooo busy for that.

Hey Jenny,

I would think you're probably busier than me looking after the kids. i will see my little cousins more now that I'm home in Glasgow so that will be nice.

I've not met anyone I would want to have children with so I'm still single. Not really practical to have any babies in my line of work just now anyway. Need to have a bit of adventure first.

We did think about Napier but because we only a few days left by the time we got to Taupo we didn't make it to Napier but my firend said that it is a really nice place. I love places with character and Napier sounds like it has. I will see it this time but I have more time to play with.

Yeah we are pretty busy with kids especially weekends they do sports so that keeps us on our toes.

Napier is a good place i call this home. Was born in New PLymouth but have lived in Napier more the most part of my life now.
