I think we´ve noticed that this boat started sinking like about 1,5 years ago or so...? The site moved, no information was given to the members and only a handful of those who used to be here came back (obviously, there was some parallell incidents that may have scared some people off... like the war in Iraq that we discussed for a while with a substantial pile of new warmongler-members who surprisingly never came back to give their reflection about the non-existent WMDs or the fact that "the war is over" was the greatest overstatement of this century, so far.)

Now what? The member-stock looks pretty good for VCI I guess, those who still may not be aware of the fact that sweden.com became v-sweden.com are still (I guess) technically members. A new adm. have presented himself with all the powers that comes with the title... so, what do you guys and gals think - are we up for a brighter future, or has the captain allready left the boat...is it time to (finally) implement our plans of a new promised land... viva Brazweden?

Fire away!

This site has sentimentel value for me as it was the very first discussion board I ever joined. I've since joined several others. It seems like the more popular sites have a wide variety of opinions. I can understand why folks of similar beliefs would stick together. It's just more interesting and entertaining for me when people of different beliefs mix it up a little.

I totally agree with you. This site was more fun when it was more diverse. Me and Alex (rest in peace brother), the warmonglers vs the peacenicks (sp?), the people searching for relatives and family history, the tourists, the love-seakers, the Sweden-bashers, the sex-seakers and the moral panic advocates...

We are too few at the present to be able to have that kind of spirit here. I am still here because of - just like you - the sentimental value (my firs discussion board as well), and because I am always hoping for the old or some new members to be around. As much as it made me upset, the kind of discussions that me and Alex had about crime and immigration policy for example, is something that I truly valued - because we could differ so much in our view of the world, yet be strong enough to actually allow and respect our different views.

So, I would not really dig the formation of a club for people who think and talk the same way. I got myself and a mirror for that kind of stimuli

Whats the possibility of pressure being put on VCI and s-sweden to tone down the "left" side of the story,I doubt all the crap on the other v- countries( pornography, hate, bad language etc.)is a threat to anyone politically, and most definitely not taken seriously.

The fact that this site was clean, and taken seriously, may have had more impact than we thought, and if you silence some of the driving forces behind v-sweden, maybe someone or somebody's hopes the rest of us, will fall away...

Maybe Just paranoid, and everything's not a conspiracy, and we really don't have any reason to think like that, do we, besides who has that kind of power to just pick up a phone and get people banned or threaten moderators, after all this is a public web site... right?

Really, the ship may not be sunk yet, but we are dead in the water and in danger of a sudden storm taking us under.
Banning Niquie sure is just such a storm. I've no clue about what happened on that front. This is my first discussion board, and I feel a deep loyalty to it. But it's really hard when all those old familiar people are gone. We are down to a mere handful of old members and about 00 new members.
We had a big blow up a few years back when i was fairly new here. Alot of Swedish members left and that hurt bad, becuase they gave this the unique Swedish perspective suitable for Sweden.com. We started downhill then I think. This change over to v-sweden killed it. I found out about the change by accident or else I'de never have found my way back. Maybe we can never catch the magic that was Sweden.com of two three years ago. That's a real pity.

On the mark sunsite, likewise for myself, this was my first forum, and my only one,as the rest are zoo's compared to v-sweden. Regardless what their reasons where, the fact remains that Niquie made this site free of the idiots and nut cases that plague most of the others. Perfection doesn't exist in an imperfect world, and to demand such, is unfair, especially on a public web site.

Without the likes of both Niquie and Jasper, this site would have gone under long ago, and I would hope that the rest( whats left of them) of the members would agree with me on this one.

Censorship comes in many forms, and a myriad of excuses are used to justify its actions, but... the agony of silence is a far worse price to pay than imperfection.

its just too bad that this place isn't what it used to be. so many longtime members just aren't here anymore. i doubt it will ever be what it used to be, but i'll still have the memories, and thats enough for me.

all the debates/arguments i've read and participated in here have opened my eyes to ideas i've never even considered before; and i hope i'm all the more wiser for it.

my feelings for this board have changed, but so long as there are still some good people over here, i might take a peek every so often.
