This flash video contains some very distressing images- please be warned.

This is what we have done in order to bring 'democracy' to Iraq.

Although it's not as "highly polished" as Mr. Blumrich's stuff, here's some video of Saddam's warm and cozy regime in action:

Cow, when are you going two stop conflating to unconnected arguments ? Nowhere has Blumrich endorsed or even defended Saddam's regime, yet you act if he had ? You conflate the two because it provides you with a simplistic argument, which in fact, is no argument at-all- it's smoke and mirrors.

The point that you may do well to consider is that Saddam brutally oppressed, tortured and killed over 300,000 of his people. an estimated 500,000 Iraqis died thanks to the punative sanctions regime (much of which had little to do with control of weapons), over 100,000 have died since the begining of the war (with an even chance it could be much higher) and the result of all this DU is that fatalities will continue for a very long while to come.

The point you would do well to consider is just what point do we cross the line between liberator and brutal oppressor who are not better than the person we seek to remove. You would seem to suggest any number of civilian casualties is worth while provided it makes for a simplistic argument you can forward as some sort of 'moral edict'.

Only someone who has no prespect of having to live under these conditions could possible argue that this is all for the 'greater good' of the Iraqis.

Another point you might wish to contemplate from the safety of your living room is that atomised DU is highly carcenogenic and little to no effort has been made (either in 1991 or now) to clear the contamination. There are now several hundred tons of the stuff in Iraq, a highly unstable nation. Ever thought of the consequences of a 'dirty bomb' might have using this stuff ? Perhaps if it is brought closer to home we might wonder at the wisdom of using this stuff in the future ? Funny how it is only when things like this affect us directly we can muster the moral outrage- come to think of it, when Saddam was brutally killing the Kurds et al, it was rather kind of the US to manage to blame Iran for the resultant slaughter.
