Like a Day at Walt Disney World with Elle McPhearson

Guantanamo is going to be royal treatment compared to what awaits most of these terrorists once they get convicted and start serving time in one of out nice Federal facilities. I believe in Justice but I know that most Americans in our federal prison system will make meat-puppets out of these guys the first night. Then the guards will have their way...

Remember the first guys who failed to blow up the WTC in 1993? They are currently in a nice U.S. Federal pen called Rockville. I bet in ten years no one will care what happened to these guys either.

Angry RIGHTS?????????

WHY SHOULD TERROISTS HAVE RIGHTS? It amazes me how anyone in the US can possibly give a damn about the rights of those murderers. It amazes me, but doesn't surprise me .

rights

are for prisoners who play by the rules of war. Not kill civilians intentionally.

That artical is nothing more than nonsense!!!

First of all, they are getting treated like prisoners of war, they have tried to put up a resistance against American and UN soldiers and are imprisoned for that. Secondly, I am sure there are British wives treated worse by their drunk husbands than how these men are being treated. It is true they are shackled, they are prisoners and have lost their freedom. But torture, please! The picture depicts the men kneeling in order to keep them under control while the gates were opened, not randomly beat by American soldiers. America is providing proper nutrition, and shelter for them. That should be more than enough for men who were trying to protect Bin Laden and plan terrorist attacks against civilians. And like most mature Americans i do believe those men should be given some humanity. We will not treat them like they treated our civilian Americans. We will not and have not fallen to their level. Maybe the writer of that artical should spend one day at the camps and then one day with a family torn apart because of the terrorist acts. Then that reporter will see that these terrorists are on a holiday, especially compared to the hell they have caused our lives.

Belgian in Guantanamo

Today, US troops captured a man in afghanistan who has the belgian nationality. Our Foreign Minister already said he should be treated as a human, and has the right to have the status of 'prisoner of war' (and in all fairness, that's what they are: prisoners of war... these guys were fighting in afghanistan, they were defending a territory against foreign troops. This is not a matter of who's right or wrong. It is just a matter of: what role did they play in the war. They are not civilians, they are not spies and they are not mercenaries (because not in it for the money). By proces of elimination they are soldiers and thus prisoners of war.)

Of course, it leaves me with one more question: What the hell is a Belgian doing in Afghanistan? If you're looking for Belgiums around the world: try Ibiza and Benidorm... but Afghanistan... they don't have a Club Med overthere, do they? I guess this guy somehow obtained the belgian nationality and didn't quite understand the meaning of the word 'integration'.

About the British Prisoners: Jack Straw already said that the 3 combattants with the British Nationality should be sentenced in Britain and not in the US.

As long as they are treated accordingly to the geneva conventions, I don't mind them staying in hotel Guantanamo.

By the way: It seems that the USA is renting the place from Cuba for almost a 100 years (and the contract says that the rent can only by suspended if both parties agree). How much do you guys have to pay the landlord (does the CIA send him a box of havana's once a year?)?

PS: The Taliban should have been outcasted already a long time ago!!!!!!! (they should never have been in power in the first place)

We got to pray to make through the day

Ribke, they seem to be praying... but they're not. If they would be praying, they would all be looking in the same direction.

Muslims pray in the direction of Mekka.
As they don't know where they are (they were bindfolded), each one try in another direction.
Besides, if you are at the other side of the world, what direction is Mekka? East or West?
I am sure the Koran has an answer.

the problem with Muslim fighters is that they consider the whole world as their territory.

He just went out to buy a packet of cigarettes and got caught in the action.

The problem with our enlightened western society is that we respect other cultures and opinion. Even if they kill us. It is called civilization.
