To balance all the religioius yadayada, I think we - the Swedes and other with interest in Norse mythology - should spam you fanatics with some great words from a time and place when life was more than just bashing other religions

giving water
fine towels are friendliness.
A cheerful word
a chance to speak
kindness and concern.

I'll add more every now and then, and hopefully Thule and others will tag a long and contribute as well

Here's one:

In Norse mythology there are 9 worlds, and guess how many worlds there are in our solar system? That's right, 9!

The evidence is clear; Asatru is the only true religion, so all get down on their knees and hail mighty Odin and mighty Thor, who are from the only true pantheon of gods!

A great evidence of the Norse superiority, Thule

From Hávámal:

18.
He who has seen and suffered much,
And knows the ways of the world,
Who has travelled, can tell what spirit
Governs the men he meets.

Indeed.

Also from Hávámal:

9:
Happy is he who hath in himself
praise and wisdom in life;
for oft doth a man ill counsel get
when 'tis born in another's breast.

I like this thread, keep em coming. BTW, It does make me realize it must be the one true religion if even thule and bosse can agree!! LOL. THAT is indeed divine intervention.

My son though has always been interested in the norse gods, even before I met the silly swede I married.

Behold!

A better burden may no man bear
For wanderings wide than wisdom;
It is better than wealth on unknown ways,
And in grief a refuge it gives.

Talking Ahha...a thread on oxymorons

Viking wisdom ? Surely that is an anomaly ? A dichotomy ? Dare I say it .....an oxymoron ?

I mean, how much wisdom does it take for a bunch of berserks to eat magic mushrooms and go looting and pillaging ? Heh heh...ok ok before u take your clubs I was just KIDDING !

I have one question though..why on earth is Thor so popular ? He sounds bad tempered to me, gnashing his teeth and swivelling his hammer about causing noise and confusion. I personally tend to favour Loke Cool quiet dude who goes about his business without much fanfare but yet....gets his job done PLUS scandinavians look cuter with black hair. Think Marcus Schekenberg (pardon the impossible spelling) and by all accounts Loke has black hair heh heh.

PS If anyone here thought for a minute I was serious about anything I wrote above...uhh..then..get a life or read a book or suomething.

Loke, the god of mischief, a trickster who fooled a blind man into killing Balder. Should I read something into that, Nolvinge?
