Cool Sami Culture/Samisk Kultur

Hi,

That is a neat site. ¿Would you know where to find more information (in English) on the arts and crafts of the Sami?

Thanks,
Tía Margarita

Sami people

A typical stupid American recently asked who Samis are. That's no wonder. Americans once again show their barbaric stupidity.

Samis are a Finno-Ugric ( Uralic family ) nation indigenous to Northern Europe. They inhabit the Northern Scandinavian region known as Lapland.

Harald, I think that the average Swedes knowledge about the Sami is just as limited as the Americans about their Indians. Stupidity would be not to ask the question what a sami is.

So, I think we should be glad that someone asks and that you at least had some knowledge to give an answer (even if your answer was a textbook answer that said nothing about the people, but just a slice of ethnical background info)

I recommend "Sami culture in a new era" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books
I don't have it myself but it seems to be really informative (you can look at 10 pages for it at amazon by the way!)
