Smile

Hello!
I'm a new member of this board. I'm Polish, and I teach English in my country. Besides I speak a bit Swedish. I'm interested in Sami culture, so I'm looking for any people who could share their knowledge on this topic. Could someone give me some basic phrases in Sami language?(Like:"Hello, thanks, have a nice day, etc.")
Hope to hear from you!

Hej Irek!

Unfortunately I cannot give you basic phrases in any of the Sámi languages. I have been searching on the net for quite some time now but haven't found much information on the languages yet. The only interesting thing I found was a poem translated into one Sámi language (I don't know which though) and read out by a Sámi.
If I should find better info in the future I'll let you know.
Hade!

Like Liena wrote, there seem to be hard to find educating web-sites on this subject. Even harder to find something in English. There are at least 10 different dialects of the Sami language in Sweden.

Try launching a google search. I've found lots of those sites before and I had fun learning Swedish words.

Good luck.
