Its disturbing that there seems to be alot of mixed messages about the impact of the gym fire that has connections to the term 'mauri'and a traditional sport played there as I have read on other threads and as this ties in with my sports research I'm interested in feedback and have posted my e-mail address on the 'Maori' section thread

From what i know the arsonists were 3 or 4 of the schoolkids who went to that school, they were imprisoned for their deeds with a big push by their head honcho - he looked like a crazed hitler to me i thionk his name is Martin. In adictatorship kids generally rebel somehow and it usually is bigtime! That mauri aspect i understand means 'life essence' or 'life force'? so yes maybe that was getting sucked out of the pupils , I am not up with that schools culture only what I've seen on tv and read.

I was in a school where all the teachers were racist infact i can't see how teachers have the cheek to collect there wages at the end of the week because from the stats maori kids aren't being taught very well. Luckily the kids who started the Fraser fire were white otherwise the sentences would have no doubt been doubled! From newspaper reports the PE department haven't looked after their non-Maori pupils very well either and in the maori publications there is mention of the fact that some Maori sports gear which was stored by a Maori teacher survived the fire - amazing stuff, hopefully this big push by govt. to recruit new teachers will see non-racist ones gain positions all around nz and force the rednecks out! I sympathise!
