Unhappy

I agree. Too bad our best football players are usually sent to the 'European Market'. This should be forbidden. We have to sign 'cable' and 'pay-per-viw' to watch them play the Eurocup.

Sorry guys, it looks like your loss and our gain, money dictates football and the big money is in Europe where top players are paid stupid amounts.

Having said that i dont really know what they earn in Brazil.? ciou.

According to Placar Magazine, the highest salaries are from Romario - R$ 510,000 (about 182,795 considering today's xchange rate of 2,79). Then, Edilson - R$ 450,000. Followed by Carlos Germano, Petkovic and Zinho - R$ 200,000. This is not the latest info, but I don't think salaries have changed much from that point.

Ohhhh sorry. When we talk about salary here in Brazil we are usually considering a month income.

Thanks for the info Thias, the top players wages here have levelled off after years of increases. Most of them are now multi millionaires, not bad for kicking a ball about eh!

Question

I think this is the kind of thoughts my grandpa had. That they earn to much just for running after a ball. He used to say he was not a football fan because he had no fans supporting him when he was performing his own tasks at work. hmmm...... This would ruin football as a business, of course, but sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be a positive thing. I have the feeling - but maybe I'm wrong - that football is more strength than talent nowadays.

Yes! you have a point regarding strength and talent, players like pele, george best, marradona, eusabio and many more were extremely talented. These were players from another era but their names are still mentioned with great respect.Whether the modern football will be thought of in the light i just dont know!but its doughtful.

Getting back to the streghth thing, many sports have gone down that road, tennis, golf, atheletics all now have problems with body and power enhancing drugs. The olympic games this year will find more drug cheats then ever before unfortunately a sign of the times.
