Liverpool`s dream of winning the UEFA cup took a nosedive last night when they were beaten 2-1 (3-2) on agg. by Marseille.

It didn`t help when Biscan was sent off, i thought the foul was outside the penalty area but thats the way things go when your lucks out, also the defence is nothing like it was last year and it shows.

Will Houllier be at Liverpool next season? hum! I dont think so.

considering their performance of late, i'm not even sure they deserve to be playing in the champions league. they should start with playing like champions ! the crash with Marseille, and hardly getting it up against Wolves is just pathetic....

Sorry Paka I should have remembered you were in Hawaii from the ale thread.
I think Houllier will be launched.
Liverpool, along with ManUre, joined the G14 clubs, and so declared they are too big for the Premier League and now, a decade later, they are praying to finish fourth in the same League.
Hardly an achievement for four-times European Champions.
A Liverpool fan I know summed it up by asking "Can you imagine Bruno Cheyrou or El-haj Diouf playing for Arsenal?"

Baros, Owen, Gerrard and Kewell are all talented enough but I think they need a Nedved, a Zidane, a Gattuso, a Pires or a Scholes; but where from?

honestly i think Liverpool have a solid lineup in the middle and up front (unlucky shot attempts notwithstanding). most their inconsistency seems to be in their defence, and, ahem, houllier...a new manager might just be where they get the job done...maybe.

on the other hand, i think the lineup have a close kinship with their manager and could also cause the first team to fall even further. if the lads make CL and manage to sign Cisse then i would give houllier another season.

otherwise i wouldn't mind a shakeup, especially in the back field.

Both teams know one another inside out, you could put money on that one being a draw, i think they will both qualify into the next round.
