Question

I'm going to NZ, from July to August. Can anybody hook me up with some information about Auckland City? I don't know annything about NZ. What's the weather like? How are the people? What can a New Yorker do in NZ?

Are there any shark attacks there? I hate sharks!!!!

Somebody help me out, I don't wanna go all the way out to NZ, clueless about what's OUT THERE.

All those in favor of being prepared holla at me!!!!!

Talking NZ Infoq

Hi,
There is so much to do in NZ and the people are so friendly and helpful you just need to ask. Having worked in Hotels for 10yrs in particular the Hyatt in auckland us Kiwis often get asked advise. Auckland is a huge city so there is alot to do - Americas Cup village for restaurtants bars (also parnell) there are great places to shop like Queens St and for attractions well you can try Kelly Tarltons (underwater sea world) IMAX movie theatre, Sky Tower, Casino. I would however recommend you get a rental car if poss, as for scenary you need to get out of Auckland and travel further up north to places like Bay of Islands, Hastings etc.
Are you going down to south islands - i can give you more info as my home town?

Regards
M

Unhappy u are not alone...

Hya! i'm kinda in the same boat as you. i'm planning to go to New Zealand this September (with a gap year project called Bunac) and i'm totally clueless aswell. part of me wants to just go there with no expectations so that i'll be hugely surprised but another part of me is quaking in my boots! i'm from england and i've heard that NZ is quite like Great Britain. Hmmm...is that a good or a bad thing?!
Where are you from, fellow scared one?

Heh, I hope you guys realise that July to sept is winter here ... so bring some warm clothes!

I think you can wing it OK here, if you end up in a backpackers there are always heaps of pamphlets, people and options flying around.

If you come from the US or England, it won't be too different, we stopped eating people about 150 years ago, and are quite western ...
