Explore the marvellous city of Tsim Sha Tui
Tsim Sha Tsui is well known for being a 'shopper's paradise' - a reputation that is well deserved. Most of the shopping districts in Hong Kong concentrate on Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay. While you'll not be disappointed if you bring your purse with to this urban area, Tsim sha Tsui has more to offer - especially if you've brought along the kids.
Best reached by taking the Star Ferry across the harbor, Tsim Sha Tsui will provide you with a truly amazing shopping and dining experience. This is a place where the city never sleeps, where tranquil parks help you to relax after a busy day, and where there is a strong, somewhat misplaced colonial presence in the form of architecture.
A visit to Hong Kong's largest shopping malls will allow you to examine the products of over 500 international brands in all their shapes and sizes. You can go to Sun Plaza, Park Lane, Shoppers Boulevard and the Beverly Commercial Center. From clothing to computer equipment, you'll find yourself immersed and by the sheer variety of it all.
Nathan Road is the main road in the area. It was originally dubbed 'Nathan's Folly' due to the lack of importance of the road. However, in more recent years it has become recognized as the 'Golden Mile' because of the sheer brilliance of the neon signs that adorn the street. The street is filled with shops, hotels, nightspots and restaurants and is worth visiting if you have the time.
If you feel like something a bit different from shopping, you might try the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Hong Kong Cultural Center. Tsim Sha Tsui has the highest concentration of modern attractions and museums in the area.
As you wind down your trip, you might take a stroll along the waterfront and discover something about Hong Kong's great actors on the Avenue of Stars. You can take in the sights and enjoy a light meal, or head to Kowloon Park - a beautiful garden in the center of the city. The Clock Tower is also worth a look. Tsim Sha Tsui is a modern holiday destination for those with a passion for commerce and culture.
