Swimming and Diving

With access to four bodies of water - the Mediterranean sea, the Red Sea, the Dead Sea and Lake Kinneret - swimming is one of Israel's most popular pastimes. There are hundreds of public swimming pools and almost every kibbutz and moshav have pools. An estimated 50% of the country's residents go swimming at least several times a year. And with over 40,000 qualified divers, Israel also has the highest per capita number of divers in the world.

Water Skiing

Water skiing is a very popular sport in Israel. With the availability of so many water of the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea and the many lakes, who could ask for more. There are many outdoor activity shops that have water skiing equipment for sale and rent.

Hiking

Israel is a beautiful place to hike in winter, though you shouldn't try and do it in midsummer. There are several different routes you can hike on in Israel. There are several routes suitable for the more experienced or even less strenuous routes for beginners. A hike in Israel will give you the chance to explore some of the most picturesque and untouched places, on your own pace.

Surfing

Tel Aviv, situated along the beach at the eastern shores of the Mediterranean, offers surfing all year-round. Though water temperature gets cool at winter with lows reaching 14 degrees Celsius, winter usually offers the best swells if you are an experienced surfer.

Volleyball

During the summer Tel-Aviv beaches host various beach volleyball tournaments. These are usually 2x2 matchs of male, female, mixed sex or other combinations. They are always colorful events where the fun starts well before the match and ends well after it. The main events are usually held in Jerusalem beach.

Sailing in the Red Sea

This is a very nice activity to relax. In Eilat Marina and deck near the northern beach you will be able to find many boats in all different sizes depending on your wishes and needs, that are available for sailing. You can watch the sunset and mountains, jump from the boat for a swim in the most colorful sea, and just have fun.
