Explore the marvellous city of Wellington
The capital of New Zealand, Wellington is more than just an administrative city. Set between picturesque green hills and a beautiful harbor, this city has all the funk of a young and vibrant culture as well as the luxury of abundant natural beauty. Shops, galleries, theatres, museums and restaurants are within walking distance of each other and excellent nature spots are not too far away either.
Wellington is only two kilometers wide so it is easy for visitors to get around at their own leisurely pace. Besides being a beautiful place to spend some time, it is also the host of some wonderful arts festivals all year around. One of the highlights of these festivals is the biennial New Zealand International Arts Festival which lasts for approximately a month.
Being the country's capital, Wellington also offers the opportunity to learn more about the administrative history of New Zealand. You can visit the Parliament buildings as well as the museums and many other old buildings while you slowly piece together the history of New Zealand for yourself.
If you'd prefer something a little less urban-orientated, you can take in the natural surroundings on mountain bike or foot. A memorable experience can be found off the South Coast where you can visit the New Zealand fur seal colony or watch the waves lap endlessly against the shore.
The beautiful, charming city of Wellington sees a lot of sunshine and very little rain. The environment is quite safe and the people are friendly. Don't waste another second! Wellington is just waiting to be discovered.
