Hiking
Norway is a hikers paradise. With numerous well marked mountain and glacier hiking tours. There are a few companies that offer guided trips, they also sell maps and provide information. The largest mainland glacier in Europe is situated at Jostedalsbreen, near Stryn. Daily glacier walks are organized in summer months in the company of experienced guides. It is of great importance to never venture onto a glacier without an experienced guide, it can be dangerous.
Skiing
Norway is an excellent place for a skiing holiday. It has about 30 000km of marked ski trails, twisting their way through unspoiled scenery. Both downhill and cross-country skiing are available from November until the end of May. However skiing in Norway is best just before Easter, when the days are getting longer, it is possible to ski for long hours in the winter, as many of the tracks are illuminated. It is also possible to go skiing in several parts of Norway in summer.
Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is becoming more and more popular in Norway. Norway's almost untouched, picturesque mountainous countryside and the miles of coast line and beaches makes it a horse riders' paradise. There are many riding schools that have horses for hire, they also have experienced guides.
Fishing
Norway is blessed with an abundance of natural freshwater lakes and streams as well as more than 7000km of coastline. There are over 100 salmon rivers flowing into the fjords, where reasonable fishing is offered. Note that a fishing permit is required, they can be obtained from most post offices.
Golf
Norway has a total of 25 18-hole golf courses, all of them are very well equipped and most of them are open to visitors. A few of them even have golf instructors, to help you get your first swing if you are not experienced.
