Whitewater Rafting
Some of the best and most exciting whitewater rivers are situated in Peru. As you row along you will see some of the most beautiful, inspiring sceneries as the Andes Mountains plunge down into the lush canyons of the Upper Amazon. Cusco is known to be the rafting capital of Peru. It offers popular 1 and 2 day trips on the Urubamba River and 3 and 4 day trips on the exciting whitewaters of the Apurimac River. Peru is dotted with Whitewater Rafting establishments that have plenty equipment and boats up for rent, they also specialize in hiring out some experienced guides.
Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking is becoming more popular by the day in Peru. New routes are rapidly being opened up, many of which offer excellent, exciting opportunities. Although Peru has thousands of miles of dirt tracks and trails, they suffer from lack of good maps to show you where to go. Peru has many adventure companies, renting out good equipment and offering organized tours with qualified guides.
Mountain Climbing
Peru is without a doubt the best place for mountaineering. There are plenty peaks over 5000m and an incredible 33 peaks over 6000m including Huascaran, Peru's highest peak, which is at 6768m. Many mountains in Peru or not very strenuous hikes, which requires no previous mountain climbing experience. It is a perfect activity to do with friends or colleagues. Remember to pack your hiking boots and lots of water.

Peru is a birdwatchers' paradise. Peru is home to over 1780 bird species 18.5% of all the bird species in the world and 45% of all neotropical birds). Peru also has 125 true endemic birds. The cocoa-plantations attracts thousands of birds, the whole country lies open for birding and is safer than most places of South America. A birding trip to Peru is good any time of the year as they breed all year round.
