Singapore is situated in Southeastern Asia, on the islands between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Singapore is slightly bigger than 3.5 times the size of Washington D.C. and stretches over a total area of 692.7 sq km, which 682.7 sq km is land and 10 sq km is water. It has a total coastline area of 193 km.
Climate
Singapore has a tropical climate, with hot, humid and rainy days. It has two distinct monsoon seasons. The Northeastern monsoon is from December to March and the Southwestern monsoon is from June to September. The inter-monsoons cause frequent afternoon and early evening thunderstorms.

The main natural resources of Singapore are fish and deepwater ports. Singapore has no natural hazards.

Singapore has a total population of 4,425,720 (July 2005 est.) inhabitants, with an average life expectancy at birth of 81.62 years. Singapore has a total labour force of 2.18 million (2004 est.) people, whom are mainly occupied in manufacturing, construction, transportation and communication, financial, business and other services.
Religion
42.5% of Singapore's population are Buddhists, 14.9% are Muslims, 8.5% are Taoists, 4% are Hindus, 4.8% are Catholics, 9.8% are Christians, 0.7 have other religions and 14.8% have no religions.

Singapore's flag consists of two equal horizontal bands of red and white, near the hoist side of the red band there is a vertical white crescent partially enclosing five white five-pointed stars arranged in a circle.

Singapore's main recognized agricultural products are rubber, copra, fruit, orchids, vegetables, poultry, eggs, fish and ornamental fish. Their main industries are electronics, chemicals, financial services, oil drilling equipment, petroleum refining, rubber processing and rubber products, processed food and beverages, ship repair, offshore platform construction, life sciences and entrepot trade.
