Chicago's main airports are: Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) and Gary/Chicago International Airport (GYY). Chicago's O'Hare International Airport has the most connections to other cities of all the world's airports. For several years it has been voted as the “Best Airport in North America”. Chicago O'Hare Airport is considered as the world's commercial aviation capital. Some 192 000 people pass through this impressive airport every day. The airport boasts four terminals which have a 162 gates in all. Facilities in the O'Hare airport are much like what you would expect from a large airport and are continually being improved. Terminal 1 handles United and United Express flights as well as Lufthansa departures. Terminal 2 deals with the following airlines: US Airways, United, Air Canada, Northwest, America West and Continental. Terminal 3 is used for Alaska, American and Delta airlines. Terminal 5 receives all the international flights and handles non-US departures.

Chicago Midway Airport has been operating since 1923 and is a very busy airport. Just 10 miles from the city center, the airport has undergone redevelopment in recent years. The main airline operating from Midway Airport is Southwest Airlines. The second biggest carrier is AirTran Airways and offers 30 nonstop flights.

The Gary/Chicago International Airport is convenient and the service is outstanding. Newly upgraded, the airport offers a variety of excellent services including three gates, automated baggage retrieval, a concession area and handicap facilities.
